The charter fee typically only covers the rental of the yacht and crew. Other expenses, such as fuel and provisions, are handled through the Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA). Expenses covered by the APA can include:
Fuel for the yacht, tenders, and water toys
Berthing fees
Customs and harbor charges
Pilot fees
Diver fees (if required)
Shore-side water and electricity
Food and beverages
Communication charges
Agent fees and other miscellaneous costs
The APA is usually set at 30% of the charter fee (or sometimes 35% for yachts with high fuel consumption or itineraries with extensive cruising). Any unused APA balance will be refunded to you at the end of the charter. However, if expenses exceed the APA amount—due to factors like extensive cruising or special provisions—you may need to cover additional costs before departure.
